BankVic is among the few financial institutions in Australia that support the banking needs of those who protect and serve the community.

Established in 1974 by six Victoria police officers as the Police Association Credit Cooperative, the member-owned bank initially served the state's police personnel. Since then, its membership has expanded to include firefighters, emergency and health service workers, other public servants, and their families.

Rebranded as BankVic in 2013, the bank has maintained its commitment to strengthening the communities it serves, ensuring they are financially, socially, and environmentally sustainable through the products, services, and programs they offer.

BankVic sees that its members can access the financial products they need, providing them with a comprehensive range of banking solutions including savings accounts, transaction accounts, home loans, personal loans, car loans, credit cards, and insurance.

BankVic rates are generally competitive, though customer feedback is widely varied. Some appreciate the rates offered, while others feel there is room for improvement. As with any financial product, individual experiences can differ.

The bank also provides its members with financial planning services. But beyond offering banking solutions tailored to its customer-owners, BankVic upholds its commitment to social responsibility by reinvesting its profits into member benefits and community initiatives such as grassroots emergency services' sporting teams and investments in clinical research.

"We are passionate about supporting the causes that matter most to our members," BankVic says.

BankVic's commitment to its stakeholders earned it the B Corp certification in 2020, making it one of the few Australian banks to receive this recognition.
